Your hands never have to leave the keyboard.

Every meaningful action in Tablesmit has a shortcut. Navigate, edit, export, and search at the speed you actually think — no mouse required.

Benefits

Stay in flow

Every time you reach for the mouse, you lose a beat. Keyboard shortcuts keep your hands where your thinking is — on the content, not the interface.

Navigate large tables precisely

Tab, Shift+Tab, and Arrow keys make moving through a 50-column table a matter of keystrokes. No clicking, no scrolling to find the next cell.

Export without breaking focus

Ctrl+P and Ctrl+Shift+X let you export to PDF or Excel in the middle of editing — without opening a menu, without taking your hands off the keyboard.

Undo confidently

Ctrl+Z goes up to 50 actions deep. Edit freely, knowing you can always reverse the last step without hunting for the Undo button.

How it works

1

Learn the navigation shortcuts first

Tab and Shift+Tab are the most important. They let you move through a table like a spreadsheet — left to right, row by row. Arrow keys give you full directional control when not in edit mode.

2

Align captions with Ctrl+L, Ctrl+E, and Ctrl+R

When the caption field is focused, Ctrl+L, Ctrl+E, and Ctrl+R align the caption left, centre, or right. No need to reach for the mouse to adjust a single line of text.

3

Find and correct with Ctrl+F and Ctrl+H

Made a spelling error across 20 rows? Ctrl+H opens find and replace. Fix it once and replace all. Done in seconds.

4

Export directly from the keyboard

When your table is ready, Ctrl+P sends it to PDF and Ctrl+Shift+X sends it to Excel. No toolbar required. Press Ctrl+/ at any time to see the full reference.

Use cases

  • Researchers filling in large data tables without switching between mouse and keyboard
  • Writers who want to build and export a table without interrupting their typing rhythm
  • Analysts who move quickly between cells using Tab navigation during data entry
  • Anyone who wants to export a finished table instantly with a single keypress
