Keep your headers in view no matter how far you scroll.
Freeze the header row, the first column, or both. Scroll through a 50-row table and always know what every cell means — your labels stay pinned.
Benefits
Always know where you are
Scroll down 40 rows and the header row stays visible at the top. Scroll right and the first column stays in place. You never lose context in a large table.
On and off in one click
Freeze header row and freeze first column are independent checkboxes. Turn either on or off instantly — no restructuring, no reformatting.
Freeze both simultaneously
Enable both options together for tables that need row and column labels. The top-left corner cell stays fixed while the rest of the table scrolls freely.
Freeze state is visual only
Frozen panes are a viewing aid. They do not affect your data, cell structure, or export. PDF, Excel, and PNG exports render the full table without the freeze behaviour.
How it works
Open the Header Definitions panel
Find the Header Definitions section in the left sidebar. The Freeze options are at the bottom of this panel.
Check Freeze header row
Tick the Freeze header row checkbox. The first row becomes sticky — it stays at the top of the table area as you scroll down.
Check Freeze first column (optional)
Tick Freeze first column to also keep the leftmost column visible as you scroll right. Both options can be active at once.
Use cases
- Reviewing a 40-row research data table where the column headers must always be visible
- Editing a 15-column table where the row labels in the first column identify each entry
- Building a comparison table where both the category column and the header row need to stay fixed
- Entering data into a long schedule or inventory table without losing track of which column is which
