Headers that work as hard as your data.
Set custom colors, choose header positions, and define column types. Your header row should communicate structure — not just label columns.
Benefits
Custom header colours
Choose any colour for your header background from the palette, or set both header colour and content colour independently. The entire header row updates instantly.
Flexible header positions
Set a header row, a header column, or both. Tablesmit handles the visual distinction automatically with the colour and style you choose.
Column types
Format each column as Text, Number, Currency, Percentage, or Date. Every cell in the column inherits the type — consistent formatting without manual effort.
Theme system
Six built-in themes — Default, Minimal, Dark Header, Striped, Academic, Monochrome — apply a complete visual style including header colour in one click.
How it works
Set header position
In the Header Definitions panel, choose first row, first column, or both. Your selection becomes the header area.
Choose a colour
Select from the colour palette in the sidebar, or click a theme to apply a complete colour scheme instantly.
Set column types
Click the column type dropdown for each column — Text, Number, Currency, Percentage, or Date. The entire column formats to match.
Use cases
- Matching a table's header colour to a brand colour palette for a report
- Applying the Academic theme for a research table in a journal submission style
- Setting Number and Currency column types for a pricing or financial table
- Using a dark header on a light-background document for visual hierarchy
