AI Table Generator Features — What to Expect
AI table generator features are coming to Tablesmit. Generate tables from text descriptions, clean messy data, and summarize table content — coming soon.
Tables are about to get smarter
AI table generator features are coming to Tablesmit. It gives you precise control over headers, formatting, and export. What it does not do yet is help you create content — that part is still entirely up to you.
That is changing. We are developing AI features that will work alongside you in the table editor.
Feature preview: Generate table from text
You paste a paragraph of text. Tablesmit reads it, identifies the structure, and generates a table.
For example, you paste:
Q1 revenue was $1.2M, driven by Product A ($500K), Product B ($400K), and Product C ($300K). Q2 revenue grew to $1.5M with Product A at $600K, Product B at $500K, and Product C at $400K.
Tablesmit generates:

This feature is in development. The UI is scaffolded — you can see the panel in the toolbar labelled AI ✦. Clicking it opens the AI Features panel with details and a Join Waitlist button.
Feature preview: Summarise this table
You have a 20-row table and need a two-sentence summary for a report or presentation. The AI reads the table and produces a plain-English summary:
"Revenue grew 25% from Q1 to Q2, driven primarily by Product C's 33% increase. Product B had the slowest growth at 25%."
No need to read through every row. The AI extracts the patterns and surfaces them in natural language.
Feature preview: Clean messy data
Imported data is rarely clean. Extra whitespace, inconsistent date formatting, trailing commas, mixed currency symbols. The AI Clean feature normalises it in one click:
- Trims whitespace from all cells
- Standardises date formats to a consistent pattern
- Converts mixed currency symbols to a single format
- Removes empty rows and columns
- Fixes inconsistent capitalisation in text columns
Privacy first
AI features will be opt-in only. Table data is never sent to an AI endpoint without explicit user action. When AI features launch, you will see clear privacy notes explaining what data is processed and where.
Availability
AI features are currently in development with no fixed release date. The UI scaffolding is in place so you can see what is coming and provide feedback. If you want early access when the beta launches, click Join Waitlist in the AI Features panel. Read the AI features overview for more detail.
What comes next
AI in Tablesmit will not generate entire documents or replace your thinking. It will handle the mechanical parts — structuring text into rows, cleaning inconsistent data, surfacing patterns — so you can focus on analysis and writing.
That is the Tablesmit philosophy: the tool does the structure. You do the thinking.
